When we think of women who revelotionized the music industry we think of women such as Janis Joplin, Billie Holliday, and Bessie Smith. All of these women changed a piece of history and overcame many obstacles for women in general, women and music, and civil rights. These women had a certain attitude that made it possible for them to rise above the rest. They possessed qualities that helped them overcome an industry that was male dominated, deal with being a certain race at the height of discrimination, and deal with not being the most beautiful woman in the industry. These three women were honest about their music, they wrote their own thoughts in the lyrics and they would not sell out for anything. The attitude to never give up, never give in, and giving in to all the pressures was not an option. Janis Joplin, Billie Holliday, and Bessie Smith had a certain attitude and drive that helped them revelotionize women in music forever. In order to be an icon in the music industry such as these women there has to be a motivation, a never give up attitude, and lastly there has to be honesty to where the people listening can feel what you were feeling and know that what the people hear is real.
